How to Install Microsoft Authenticator on Android - EN

This guide will help you install the Microsoft Authenticator and set up multi-factor authentication(MFA).

 

Download and Install Microsoft Authenticator

Multi-factor authentication is an effective way to protect your account from being stolen, and Microsoft Authenticator is a straightforward way to implement multi-factor authentication. You may install Microsoft Authenticator from the Google Play Store directly. Or you may install it by scanning the QR code below. 

Note: The QR code above links to the Microsoft Authenticator installation package stored in CEIBS SharePoint. You need to log in with your CEIBS account to download it.

 

Set up multi-factor authentication - Microsoft Authenticator method

  1. Access this site https://myaccount.microsoft.com/ in a computer browser and sign in with your CEIBS account and password.

  2. Select Security info in the left menu. Then, select Add sign-in method in the Security info pane. 


  3. Select Microsoft Authenticator from the list. 


  4. Since Microsoft Authenticator is already downloaded and installed,
    • Android devices without GMS, select Set up a different authenticator app.  
    • Android devices with GMS, select Next.


  5. Select Next in the Set up your account in the app window.


  6. The window for scanning the QR code appears. Please open Microsoft Authenticator on your mobile phone. 

     
  7. On your mobile phone, open Microsoft Authenticator and tap Add Account > Work or school account > Scan QR code, then scan the QR code from the previous step. 


  8. After you have bound your account in the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile phone, tap the account to view a 6-digit one-time password code, which changes every 30 seconds.
    • Android devices without GMS
    • Android devices with GMS


  9. In your computer browser, enter the 6-digit one-time password code from the Microsoft Authenticator app, then click Next.


  10. On the Security info page, check that Sign-in method when most advisable is unavailable is Microsoft Authenticator - notification.

    1. If it is not Microsoft Authenticator - notification, please click Change on the right.
    2. Change the default method, select App-based authentication - notification, then click Confirm.


  11. Setup complete.
