Spam Handling

  • Email accounts are protected by a spam filtering service.

  • Spam refers to unsolicited email, typically commercial bulk email. And phishing mail was always sent by some identity thieves, and they always pretended to be system administrator to remind you password expiration, then lead you to a fake website which looks identical to the genuine one and cheat your account information. CEIBS IT provides a solution against spam for our students, using Cisco Email Security Appliance (ESA) as the anti-spam email gateway to identify incoming emails and apply different warning labels to potentially malicious emails and confirmed threat emails. These emails are then delivered to Exchange 2019, where confirmed spam and high risk emails are automatically routed to users’ Junk Email folder based on the applied labels.

  • Users can manage their own email safelist and blocklist directly within their mailbox. As emails in the Junk Email folder are retained for only 30 days, users are strongly advised to review this folder regularly to avoid missing legitimate emails that may have been misclassified.

  • In addition, you can refer to the IT Environment Security section in the IT Service Introduction to learn more about phishing emails. If you receive this type of message, simply delete it or send it to the IT Support Team for verification. It takes the efforts of every one of us to achieve a stable and secure IT environment.
